90 Years of Social Security. Don’t Let Congress Destroy It.
Today marks the 90th anniversary of Social Security — the most successful anti-poverty program in American history.
But instead of celebrating, we’re fighting to save it.
The Social Security Administration (SSA) — the agency that makes sure you and your family get the benefits you’ve earned — is being hollowed out. Offices have lost half their staff. Wait times are measured in months, not days. Seniors are dying before their claims are processed.
And now, Republican leaders in Congress are pushing even deeper cuts that could bring SSA to its knees. That means delayed checks, denied claims, and broken promises to millions of Americans.
We cannot let them get away with it.
Legislation in Congress — led by Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. John Larson — would reverse the cuts, fully fund the SSA, and protect benefits for generations to come. But it will only pass if we demand it, right now.
If we stay silent, we could lose the Social Security system we’ve depended on for 90 years. If we fight back, we can make sure it’s still here to celebrate its 100th.
Thanks,
Mary
