A dangerous Trump nominee has been withdrawn
Last month, thousands of you sent letters to the Senate opposing the nomination of E.J. Antoni to lead the Bureau of Labor Statistics. And now Donald Trump has withdrawn that nomination.
According to Politico and the Associated Press, paperwork officially withdrawing the nomination was delivered to the Senate last week. White House officials privately acknowledged that Antoni did not have the votes to be confirmed, and they say a new nominee will be named soon.
Antoni wasn’t just unqualified — he was dangerous. He was present at the January 6th attack, called Social Security a “ponzi scheme,” and personally ran a social media account filled with sexually degrading comments about former Vice President Kamala Harris, conspiracy theories, and vicious attacks on anyone who criticized Donald Trump.
The withdrawal of his nomination marks a significant victory for everyone who spoke out. It shows that public pressure still matters — and that Americans are watching closely when the administration attempts to hand key institutions to ideologues with dangerous agendas.
Our democracy depends on trusted, professional institutions — and this outcome is a reminder that when we raise our voices together, we can protect them.
Thank you for staying engaged and for standing up for accountability in government.
Thanks,
Mary
