Congress must defend the 2026 midterms from Trump’s interference.
Donald Trump just made it clear: he wants to end mail-in voting before the 2026 midterms. He’s urging Republican lawmakers to “get smart” and eliminate early and mail-ballot options — calling them “rigged” and “illegal.” His allies are already pressuring states like Ohio to not accept ballots that arrive after Election Day, even though they’re legally cast and postmarked on time.
This is a coordinated attack on democracy. Mail-in ballots have been used securely for decades, from soldiers overseas to seniors and working parents at home. They’re verifiable and vital to ensuring every voice counts. But extremists know that the more people vote, the less power they hold — so they’re trying to rip that right away.
Congress has the power — and the duty — to stop them. We’re calling on every member of Congress to immediately pass national protections for mail-in voting. That means guaranteeing that all ballots postmarked by Election Day are counted, banning any federal interference with state-run elections, and codifying the right to vote by mail in federal law.
Trump’s threats aren’t idle talk. Legal experts warn that undermining vote-by-mail is the first step in a larger plan to challenge election results and sow chaos in 2026. We can’t wait for that to happen. We need action now.
Thanks,
Mary
