Congress Must Release $7 Billion in Education Funding Before It’s Too Late
Our public education system is in crisis — and it’s not by accident.
The Trump administration is deliberately withholding $7 billion in public school funding, despite the fact that Congress already approved it. This funding is essential to keep classrooms running, educators employed, and vital support programs alive. Without it, schools are being forced to make impossible choices.
Across the country, teachers are losing their jobs. Class sizes are swelling to unsustainable levels. Services for students with disabilities are being dismantled. Programs that help English learners, support low-income communities, and provide safe after-school care are vanishing. And with each passing day, the damage grows worse.
This isn’t a policy dispute. It’s sabotage — plain and simple. And the ones paying the price aren’t politicians. They’re children.
Millions of students are being pushed into under-resourced, overcrowded classrooms with fewer teachers, fewer counselors, and fewer opportunities to succeed. Many of these kids are already struggling to recover from pandemic-era learning loss and mental health challenges. Stripping away their support now isn’t just cruel—it’s dangerous.
We cannot allow this to stand. Congress has the power to force the administration to release this funding, but they need to hear from the public — loudly and immediately. If we don’t act, this $7 billion will remain frozen, and the damage to our schools will deepen.
That’s where you come in.
Take one minute right now to send a message to your members of Congress demanding they act to release these funds.
This is an emergency, and every voice matters. Your pressure could be what finally breaks the logjam in Washington.
Thanks,
Mary
