Defend the Endangered Species Act Before It’s Too Late

The Endangered Species Act (ESA) has been one of the most effective environmental laws in U.S. history — saving icons like the bald eagle, gray wolf, and humpback whale from extinction. But now, Donald Trump and extremist Republicans are trying to dismantle it.

Trump’s latest plan? A sweeping overhaul that guts habitat protections and rewrites key definitions — making it easier for corporate polluters and developers to push species to the brink. His administration wants to narrow the very meaning of “endangered,” limit habitat restoration, and block new listings of at-risk species.

This is not just bureaucratic tinkering — it’s a death sentence for hundreds of species teetering on the edge. Climate change, habitat loss, and pollution are already pushing ecosystems to collapse. The last thing our planet needs is fewer protections for wildlife.

Even scientists are sounding the alarm. A recent study found that rolling back ESA protections leads to fewer recovery efforts and increased risk of extinction.

We must act now to stop this assault.

Thanks,
Mary
