Don’t Let Paramount and Warner Bros. Build a Media Monopoly
Paramount Skydance is racing to build a media monopoly — and state attorneys general just sued to stop it.
The company wants to buy Warner Bros. Discovery in a massive deal that would combine major studios, streaming platforms, cable networks, and news outlets into one corporate empire. That's bad news for everyone except the billionaires at the top.
Bigger media monopolies can mean higher prices, fewer choices, weaker worker power, squeezed creators, struggling independent theaters, and less space for independent journalism.
The attorneys general who already sued are right to fight back. Now they need to stand strong — and every attorney general still on the sidelines needs to join them.
This is not just another Hollywood deal. It is about who controls what Americans watch, read, and hear.
When a few corporations control more of our media, communities lose. Workers lose. Consumers lose. Independent voices get squeezed out. Democracy loses.
Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery have armies of lawyers, lobbyists, and PR teams trying to force this merger through. Public pressure can help the AGs already in the fight hold the line — and push more states to get involved.
Media power should not be carved up behind closed doors by billionaires and corporate lawyers. The public deserves a say.
Thanks for all that you do,
