Don’t Let Trump Turn His Iran War Into an Alaska Oil Grab
Donald Trump made oil prices skyrocket by launching his war with Iran. Now he wants Big Oil to cash in — by turning Alaska’s public lands, fragile wildlife habitat, and Arctic wilderness into a drilling zone.
As families brace for higher gas prices, Trump’s administration is using the panic to push drilling across Alaska’s public lands and waters — including the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. The damage could last for countless generations, while doing nothing to improve oil prices now.
Trump’s plan is nothing more than a giveaway to Trump’s Big Oil friends and an attack on our natural lands. Congress must stop it now.
Tell Congress: Stop Trump from using war and oil-market panic as cover for an Alaska drilling spree.
More drilling will not lower gas prices today. New leases can take years to produce oil — if they produce any at all. But the damage starts immediately: more spill risk, more habitat destruction, more climate pollution, and more threats to Indigenous communities whose lives and cultures are tied to the land.
The Arctic Refuge coastal plain is sacred to the Gwich’in people and vital to the Porcupine Caribou herd. It should not be sacrificed because Trump created a crisis and Big Oil saw a payday.
Congress must investigate this fossil-fuel giveaway, block funding for destructive lease sales, demand oversight of fast-tracked permits, and protect Alaska’s public lands and waters before the damage is locked in for decades.
Thanks for all that you do,
Matt from the Swarm
