Enough: Condemn Trump’s Abuse of Women Journalists

In recent days, CNN, ABC News, The Guardian, TIME Magazine, and HuffPost have all documented new incidents where Donald Trump publicly insulted and demeaned women journalists simply for asking legitimate questions. He’s called reporters “stupid and nasty,” “obnoxious,” and even “piggy” — language no leader in a democracy should ever use toward the free press.

These aren’t harmless moments. Experts warn that this kind of targeted, gendered hostility fuels harassment, silences critical reporting, and undermines press freedom at its core.

Women journalists already face disproportionate abuse online. When Trump ramps up these attacks, it emboldens people who want to intimidate and threaten them. We can’t let that become the norm.

That’s why we’re calling on millions of Americans to speak up right now. We need a massive public show of support for the women reporters who put themselves on the line every day to hold power accountable.

A free press only works when journalists can ask tough questions without fear. When Trump tries to bully them into silence, we have to make it clear: we stand with them.

Thanks,
Mary
