Furloughed and Forgotten — Demand Back Pay Now
Federal employees are being forced to survive a nightmare of uncertainty. The White House has circulated a memo questioning whether furloughed workers are even eligible for back pay — putting hundreds of thousands of livelihoods at risk. Meanwhile, Senate negotiations drag on, and the legal ground keeps shifting.
Across the country, workers describe shattered routines and deep financial strain. Some have to skip meals or risk eviction. Many are juggling calls to landlords, rationing medicine, and losing sleep over how they’ll keep their families safe. Routine healthcare, child care, and bills become impossible to manage when pay is withheld.
This is not theoretical. This is happening right now — and it’s being inflicted on public servants who keep our country safe, clean, and running. The mental stress, the broken faith, the destabilized households: we must demand real accountability from Washington.
We need bold action without delay. The shutdown must end — and workers must receive full, unconditional back pay the moment it does. We call congressional leaders to reverse dangerous memos and pass legislation that locks in protections so no administration can weaponize uncertainty again.
Thanks,
Mary
