GoFundMe Must Take Down ICE fundraisers NOW.

GoFundMe is currently hosting fundraisers for Jonathan Ross, the ICE agent who killed Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis on January 7. These campaigns went live almost immediately and have already raised hundreds of thousands of dollars — even as investigations into the shooting are ongoing.

This is not allowed under GoFundMe’s own rules.

GoFundMe’s Terms of Service prohibit fundraising that supports the legal defense or personal benefit of individuals connected to violent acts. The fundraisers benefiting Jonathan Ross are explicitly designed to do exactly that. Keeping them online is a clear policy failure, not a judgment call.

Every hour these campaigns remain live, GoFundMe is making an active choice to ignore its standards and allow crowdfunding to be used as a shield against accountability. This is how dangerous precedents get set — when corporations delay, deflect, and wait for outrage to fade.

Public pressure is the only reason GoFundMe has enforced these rules in the past. That pressure has to happen now.

Time matters. Momentum matters. Silence helps no one.

Thanks,
Mary
