Meta Is Silencing Accountability as ICE Violence Escalates
Meta is blocking links to ICE List, a public website that documents ICE and Customs and Border Patrol agents using information the agents made public about themselves. Users of Facebook, Instagram, and Threads are now prevented from sharing the site.
This censorship is already drawing national attention. Wired, Engadget, Politico, and Deadline have all reported that Meta quietly restricted the ICE List after it began circulating widely, just as scrutiny of ICE’s violent, paramilitary-style operations is intensifying.
That timing matters. In Minneapolis, two people — Renée Good and Alex Pretti — were killed during federal immigration operations. Communities are demanding transparency and accountability. Meta’s response has been to suppress lawful civic speech that documents who is carrying out this violence.
ICE List does not publish hacked or private data. It compiles professional profiles, public records, and self-disclosed information. Blocking it does not protect privacy—it shields state power from public oversight.
When a single corporation can decide that documenting federal agents is unacceptable speech, democratic accountability is in danger.
Thanks,
Mary
