Millions of families are being told they can’t get a break on groceries—because of outdated USDA rules.
When grocery stores tried to offer discounts to families using SNAP benefits during the recent government shutdown, the U.S. Department of Agriculture—under Secretary Brooke Rollins—stepped in and said no.
That’s right. Stores were warned not to give special discounts to SNAP users, even as millions struggled to afford food. The USDA’s so-called “Equal Treatment” rule forbids stores from lowering prices for the people who need it most.
We’re calling on Secretary Rollins to reverse this harmful policy immediately and let grocery stores offer discounts to SNAP recipients. Every family deserves access to affordable food—especially when benefits are delayed or prices are soaring.
Public pressure works. If thousands of us speak up now, we can force the USDA to act and make sure Congress holds them accountable.
Thanks,
Mary
