Tell the Senate to vote against the confirmation of Markwayne Mullin to head DHS!

Donald Trump has nominated Senator Markwayne Mullin to lead the Department of Homeland Security — one of the most powerful national security positions in the federal government.

But Mullin’s record raises serious concerns. After the 2020 election, he promoted false claims that the election had been stolen and voted to object to the certification of the Electoral College results even after the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. He also made headlines for challenging a union leader to a physical fight during a Senate hearing — behavior that raises serious questions about his judgment and temperament.

Mullin has also taken extreme positions on immigration. Reuters has reported that Mullin has argued babies born in the United States to undocumented parents should be deported alongside their families, a position that conflicts with the longstanding constitutional principle of birthright citizenship. Under the Constitution, children born in the U.S. are citizens regardless of their parents’ immigration status.

The Department of Homeland Security is responsible for protecting our country from terrorism, responding to disasters, securing our borders, and safeguarding critical infrastructure. This role requires serious, responsible leadership that respects the Constitution and democratic institutions.

Senator Mullin’s record shows he is not the right person for the job.
