Reject Trump’s Lies. Reject the SAVE Act.

Donald Trump lied on national television last night. Now he wants Congress to turn his lies into law. We have to stop them.

In a primetime speech, Trump recycled the same debunked conspiracy theories he has pushed for years. He ranted about the 2020 election. He claimed voting systems were compromised. He suggested shadowy forces changed the outcome.

He offered no proof. Because there is none. But that didn’t stop him from demanding Congress pass his signature voter suppression bill: the SAVE Act.

Arizona Secretary of State Cisco Aguilar said what millions of Americans were thinking: “That was some bullshit.” Now it’s time for Congress to reject what Trump is shoveling.

Trump claimed his speech was about election security. But it was really about power. He lost in 2020, lied about it, tried to overturn the result, and now wants Congress to help him make voting harder before the next election.

His SAVE Act is a “solution” to a non-existent problem. And it would weaken our democracy by pushing more eligible voters to the sidelines.

Trump’s plan would create new roadblocks that would block eligible Americans from registering and voting. It would force people to navigate unnecessary paperwork hurdles just to exercise a constitutional right. Young voters, naturalized citizens, married people whose documents do not match, low-income voters, rural voters, older voters, and voters of color could all be harmed if they do not have access to the right documents.

Our democracy should not be built around one man’s lies. It should be built around one simple promise: every eligible voter can register, vote, and have their ballot counted.

Congress has a choice: either protect the freedom to vote — or help Trump weaponize lies into federal law. We need to show lawmakers we will hold them accountable if they put Trump’s ego over democracy.

Thanks for all that you do,
