Republicans just voted to gut housing aid. We can still stop it.

Last week, the House of Representatives passed a devastating budget bill that would slash housing assistance for millions of Americans — especially fixed-income seniors and families struggling to stay afloat.

If this bill becomes law, critical programs such as Section 8 housing vouchers and support for affordable housing could be eliminated. Seniors could be evicted. Families could be pushed into homelessness. Cities have warned they won’t be able to keep up with the growing need—and they’re bracing for a wave of pain.

But here’s the good news: the bill hasn’t passed the Senate — yet.

Senate leaders are rushing to finish the legislation before the July 4th recess. That means we have just days to speak out and stop this before it’s too late.

We’ve seen what happens when the safety net is torn apart. And we’ve fought before to protect the programs that make this country more just and humane. It’s time to do it again.

Thanks,
Mary
