Republicans want to cut immigrant kids out of basic support programs
Republicans in Congress are pushing an extremist plan to gut access to basic supports for millions of immigrant families — especially children.
Their latest proposal would strip the Child Tax Credit (CTC) from children whose parents file taxes using an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), even if the child is a U.S. citizen. This cruel move targets immigrant workers who pay taxes but aren’t eligible for Social Security numbers.
👉 Nearly 1 in 4 children in the U.S. has at least one immigrant parent. These kids already face disproportionate barriers to health care and economic support. Now, extremists want to make their lives even harder — all to score political points.
And it doesn’t stop there: this proposal is part of a broader campaign to restrict immigrant families’ access to health coverage, food assistance, and other essential programs — programs that every working family needs to thrive.
This is wrong. These attacks don’t reflect our values — and they must be stopped.
Thanks,
Mary
