Stop Arctic Drilling Before It’s Too Late

Right now, the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) is once again under threat — and we may be running out of time to stop irreversible damage.

Big Oil allies in Congress are already plotting to reverse Biden-era protections against oil and gas drilling. Just last week, Republican leaders doubled down on their push to open the Arctic Refuge to drilling — and now, Democrats are fighting back by reintroducing the Arctic Refuge Protection Act.

We need overwhelming public pressure to make sure Congress hears us loud and clear: the Arctic is not for sale.

This isn’t just about protecting a pristine wilderness. Drilling in the Arctic Refuge threatens Indigenous communities, endangers iconic wildlife like polar bears and caribou, and would pour more climate pollution into our already overheating planet.

The science is precise — locking in new fossil fuel development in one of the most climate-sensitive regions on Earth is reckless. ANWR holds up to 10.4 billion barrels of oil. Burning that would create millions of metric tons of CO₂ emissions — directly undermining U.S. climate goals.

The Arctic Refuge Protection Act would permanently ban oil and gas drilling in the Refuge. But it won’t pass unless we create the political will to act. That means swarming Congress with demands now, before this legislation gets buried in partisan gridlock.

Demand they stand with Indigenous communities, climate science, and future generations – not fossil fuel lobbyists.

We need action now – before it's too late.

Thanks,
Mary
