Stop FBI Attacks on Voter Registration

Trump and his allies were already purging voters, restricting the ballot, and lying about election results. Now the FBI has gone even further, with a raid on organizers and volunteers registering their neighbors to vote.

Federal agents just raided the Cleveland office of the Ohio Organizing Collaborative, a group known for voter registration and community organizing, and reportedly seized documents and computer files. They’ve denied the public information about why the group was targeted, what justified the raid, or whether political pressure played any role.

The right to vote is sacred. And at a time when extremists are working overtime to kick eligible voters off the rolls, shut people out of the ballot box, and attack the organizers who help communities fight back, Congress must demand answers now.

The goal of this raid was simple and dangerous: to intimidate all of us and to make voting harder for the people most likely to be ignored, excluded, or suppressed.

Voter registration drives are a lifeline for Black voters, low-income voters, young voters, immigrant communities, and people who already face barriers at the ballot box. When those drives are threatened, eligible voters are silenced before they ever get to cast a ballot.

Already, Trump and his allies have purged the voter rolls, restricted access, harassed organizers, criminalized assistance, and cast suspicion on the people helping communities participate in democracy.

Congress must expose the truth and make clear that federal law enforcement must never be weaponized against civic participation. And Congress must finally take decisive action to defend our freedom to vote.

Thanks for all that you do,
