Tell Congress: Block ICE’s Electric-Shock Glove Contract
ICE keeps killing people. Now it wants to strap electric-shock gloves onto immigration agents.
This is not hypothetical. DHS just published a notice, the no-bid solicitation could move within days, and ICE wants these gloves in agents’ hands by March. Congress has a narrow window to stop this before a quiet procurement becomes a new weapon in the deportation machine.
ICE already has too much power and too little accountability. Masked agents are terrorizing communities, tearing families apart, and operating with stunning secrecy. Now DHS wants to hand them a weapon that can cause pain instantly — and make abuse even harder to see.
The Department of Homeland Security is preparing to spend up to $20 million on gloves built to let agents inflict electric shocks on people they are arresting, restraining, or deporting.
It's a terrifying escalation of already cruel tactics. Immigration enforcement should not be a testing ground for new pain-compliance weapons. Immigrants, asylum seekers, workers, parents, and children already live under the threat of detention and deportation. Giving ICE electric-shock gloves will only make that system more violent.
Congress must halt this contract, demand records, hold public hearings, and ban electric-shock devices from civil immigration enforcement before agents ever put them on.
If Congress stays silent, ICE will get the message that it can keep militarizing deportation with taxpayer dollars and no consequences. We cannot let that happen.
Thanks for all that you do,
