Tell Congress: Keep medical debt off credit reports for good.

Millions of Americans breathed easier when the Biden administration banned medical debt from credit reports. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s rule didn’t erase anyone’s bills — it simply stopped unfairly punishing people for getting sick. For more than 15 million people, that meant a fair shot at renting an apartment, buying a car, or getting a job without medical debt dragging down their credit.

Now, Trump’s CFPB appointees are moving to repeal that rule — and to block states from protecting their own residents. If they succeed, medical debt will once again haunt credit reports and trap families in cycles of poverty for years.

Congress can stop this. Lawmakers must act immediately to defend the CFPB’s rule and protect millions from credit discrimination based on illness.

Getting sick shouldn’t destroy your financial future.

Thanks,
Mary
