Tell Congress: Stop Trump's Attack on Cancer Protections
Trump promised to make America healthy again. Instead, his administration is gutting protections against cancer-causing chemicals — putting Americans' health at risk while powerful polluters benefit.
A shocking new investigation from the Natural Resources Defense Council reveals more than 500 Trump administration actions weakening environmental and public health safeguards, including critical protections against dangerous carcinogens.
The administration has changed how it evaluates cancer risks from formaldehyde, delayed asbestos protections, and granted industrial polluters exemptions from rules limiting toxic emissions. The changes could mean greater exposure to cancer-causing chemicals in the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the communities where our children grow up.
Formaldehyde is found in everyday products. Asbestos can cause deadly cancers. Industrial facilities release hazardous chemicals near homes, schools, and workplaces.
And instead of strengthening protections, Trump's administration is making it easier for these dangers to go unchecked.
Federal regulators are changing how they assess cancer risks and delaying requirements for companies to provide critical chemical-safety information. These decisions could weaken the standards that limit Americans' exposure to dangerous substances.
The consequences could be deadly. Cancer can take years to develop, meaning people may not discover the harm until long after they've been exposed.
Americans shouldn't have to wonder whether their drinking water is safe, whether the air around their homes contains cancer-causing toxins, or whether their government is putting corporate interests ahead of public health.
Congress must investigate these rollbacks, demand records and answers from federal officials, and pass legislation strengthening protections against cancer-causing pollution. Lawmakers must use that authority to hold the administration accountable and prevent further weakening of critical safeguards.
Thanks for all that you do,
Matt from the Swarm
