Tell Congress: Stop Trump’s Disgraceful Arch Near Arlington
Donald Trump wants to build a 250-foot triumphal arch outside of Arlington National Cemetery, steps away from where thousands of U.S. service members are buried.
It would be a massive monument tied to his legacy alone, built with our tax dollars, looming over one of the most sacred sites in America.
Trump’s appointees have already begun advancing the project, clearing early approvals despite growing public backlash. If Congress doesn’t act now, it could soon move forward.
Arlington is a place meant for reflection, sacrifice, and national unity. Veterans and military families deserve to know this space will be protected, not transformed into a backdrop for any president’s legacy.
Vietnam veterans have already sued to stop the "Arc de Trump," warning that it disrespects the meaning and purpose of Arlington. But lawsuits alone aren’t enough.
Congress has the power to stop this. Lawmakers can demand answers from the Department of Defense and block any further approvals before construction begins.
If this goes forward, it sets a dangerous precedent: that even the spaces surrounding our most sacred memorials can be reshaped for personal legacy. That nothing — not even Arlington — is truly off-limits. The damage would be permanent.
Thanks,
Mary
