Elon Musk’s xAI is accused of polluting communities to power its massive AI empire — and Trump’s Justice Department is trying to help him get away with it.

The NAACP and local groups say xAI has been running dozens of gas turbines near homes, schools, and churches without the clean-air permits required by law. Families could be breathing dirtier air so one of the richest men on Earth can build faster, bigger, and cheaper.

Now the Department of Justice is asking a court to throw out the lawsuit. Their argument is outrageous: xAI’s data center is too important to face this kind of accountability.
