Tell Graham Platner: Withdraw Before the July 13 Deadline

Graham Platner is facing a serious sexual assault allegation, and Maine voters deserve a Democratic Senate nominee who can fully focus on defeating Susan Collins.

Platner has denied this allegation and previous allegations. But the political reality is undeniable. And now even former endorsers and Democratic leaders from all wings of the party are calling on him to step aside.

If Platner refuses to withdraw before the deadline, Democrats may lose the chance to replace him on the ballot — leaving voters trapped in a race where these allegations all but guarantee he will lose in November. And if Democrats lose Maine, Republicans will likely maintain their grip on the Senate.

Survivors deserve to be taken seriously, and voters deserve accountability. Asking Platner to step aside is not the same as declaring guilt — it is recognizing that no candidate is entitled to remain the nominee in a must-win race when serious unresolved allegations have made that race nearly impossible to win.

The path forward is clear. If Platner withdraws by July 13, Maine Democrats can move quickly to nominate a replacement and keep the focus where it belongs: defeating Susan Collins and protecting the Senate from Republican control.

But if he waits too long, that opportunity could disappear. Every day of delay makes it harder for Democrats to recover, harder for voters to move forward, and harder for this race to be about the future of Maine instead of Platner’s conduct.

Thanks for all that you do,
