Tell Taylor Farms: Don’t Use MAGA Ties to Deny Us Safe Food
Taylor Farms has a choice: protect sick customers — or hide behind political access and corporate spin.
A multistate cyclosporiasis outbreak has been linked by public health officials to shredded iceberg lettuce served at Taco Bell locations in multiple states. Taylor Farms de Mexico recalled iceberg lettuce from central Mexico, and federal investigators warned consumers not to eat the affected products.
But after Taylor Farms executives reportedly met with White House and FDA officials, the FDA retracted a positive test result, calling it a false positive — and the timing raises serious questions.
Taylor Farms is a politically connected food giant with deep MAGA ties. Reporting shows the company gave $1 million to MAGA Inc., donated millions more to conservative causes, and spent heavily on lobbying — including on food safety regulation.
Federal officials deny that political interference occurred. But when a major Trump donor gains access to federal officials during an outbreak investigation, the public deserves receipts — not excuses.
People got sick. Families were put at risk. And Taylor Farms should not get to hide behind one corrected lab result while the broader investigation continues.
We need to build public pressure now to force Taylor Farms to disclose what happened, support those who were harmed, and strengthen safety standards before another outbreak hits.
Thanks for all that you do,
Matt from the Swarm
