Tell the FCC: Don’t Unleash Right-Wing AI Robocalls On Voters

Your cellphone is not a billionaire’s campaign tool. Club for Growth wants the FCC to treat it like one—and the agency could act before the November 3 midterms. We have just days to make ourselves heard.

The dark-money, right-wing political powerhouse helps bankroll hard-line conservative candidates and laid the groundwork for Trump's massive cuts to healthcare, nutrition assistance, education, and more. Now, the billionaires who fund it want to reach you with AI-generated calls you never agreed to receive.

Club for Growth has asked the Federal Communications Commission to scrap the consent requirement for political calls to cellphones using prerecorded or artificial voices—including AI voices.

But the deadline for comments on the proposal is October 19, so there's still time to stop it.

We know how dangerous this technology can be. Before New Hampshire’s 2024 presidential primary, voters received calls using a fake Joe Biden voice telling them not to vote. It was a familiar voice, a deliberate lie, and a disgusting effort to stop people from casting their ballots.

Other laws against election deception would remain. But removing the consent requirement would weaken a safeguard against unwanted calls—and give political operations more room to bombard voters with synthetic voices.

Club for Growth suggests call limits and opt-outs would be enough, but consumer advocates aren’t buying it. Three calls per caller every 30 days could still mean a barrage from different campaigns, PACs, and political groups. You shouldn’t have to fend them off one by one to get your peace back.

Billionaires already buy enormous influence over our elections. We can't let them buy their way past our consent, too.

Consumer and democracy advocates are already pushing back, but we need to turn public anger into concrete pressure before the FCC decides.

Thanks for all that you do,
