Tell the Senate: Reject Trump's MAGA FDA Commissioner Pick

Yesterday, Donald Trump nominated a MAGA ally to run the agency that decides which medicines, vaccines, medical devices, and foods are safe for millions of Americans.

His nominee for FDA commissioner, Dr. Heidi Overton, has already pushed for tighter restrictions on the abortion medication mifepristone and supported the administration’s controversial push to separate the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine into individual shots — a move opposed by major pediatric experts.

Now Trump wants to hand her control of one of the most powerful public-health agencies in the country. But Overton cannot permanently take control of the FDA unless the Senate votes to confirm her.

Americans deserve our public-health agencies to be led by experts, not ideologues. It's time to demand the Senate reject Overton.

The FDA is supposed to follow science, not ideology. Its decisions determine which drugs reach pharmacy shelves, what safety warnings patients receive, how vaccines are evaluated, and whether products Americans use every day meet basic health standards.

When politics overrides that mission, real people pay the price. Patients lose access to needed medication. Parents are left with confusing or unreliable public-health guidance. And trust in the agency responsible for protecting our health can collapse.
