The FBI Raided a Georgia Election Office — Our Democracy Is at Risk
On January 28, 2026, the FBI raided the Fulton County Election Hub and Operations Center in Georgia, seizing ballots and records from the 2020 election.
According to reporting from The New York Times, CNN, and local outlet WSB-TV, the search targeted long-settled election materials — just days after Donald Trump renewed public attacks on Georgia election officials and less than a year before the 2026 midterms. This is not routine law enforcement. It is an alarming abuse of power unfolding in real time.
Georgia’s results were audited, recounted, litigated, and certified years ago. Joe Biden won. Courts rejected Trump’s claims, and Republican state leaders affirmed the outcome — facts documented repeatedly by The Associated Press and the Georgia Recorder. Yet federal agents are now targeting a local election office that has already faced years of threats and harassment for upholding the law.
This raid sends a clear warning to election workers nationwide: defy political lies, and you could be next. That is how democracies erode — through intimidation, spectacle, and the weaponization of government power against those who protect the vote.
Congress must investigate the Justice Department’s actions, condemn this raid, and pass protections to shield election offices and workers from partisan federal retaliation.
Democracy cannot survive if losing politicians use law enforcement to relitigate their defeats and sabotage future elections. Pam Bondi and the FBI must be held accountable.
