The Senate is back — and disturbing new revelations about E.J. Antoni just dropped.
The Senate has returned and is racing to confirm Donald Trump’s extremist nominees — including E.J. Antoni, tapped to lead the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
Antoni isn’t just unqualified. He was present at the Capitol on January 6. He’s called Social Security a “Ponzi scheme,” smeared the BLS as dishonest, and vowed to kill the monthly jobs report that’s guided our economy since 1939.
And now we know Antoni personally ran a social media account filled with disturbing content — including sexually degrading comments about Vice President Kamala Harris, conspiracy theories, and vicious attacks on anyone who criticized Donald Trump. This is not the record of someone who can be trusted with safeguarding America’s most vital economic data.
That’s why economists across the political spectrum — liberal and conservative alike — are speaking out against Antoni’s nomination. They warn that putting him in charge of the BLS would undermine trust, destabilize markets, and politicize the very data that guides our economy.
The Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pensions (HELP) Committee is expected to rush through nominations next week, and then it will reach the full Senate.
The vote could come at any moment. The Senate is moving quickly, and the danger is only growing.
The future of the Bureau of Labor Statistics — and the credibility of the data that shapes our jobs, wages, and retirement security — is at stake.
Thanks,
Mary
